Scientific Illustrations
My career interests center on navigating conservation and biology through the perspective of systemic and local factors, eventually carrying out effective restorative plans that challenge human-driven impacts, while considering the intersecting components of marine science, conservation, community, and culture. My educational background is in marine science and studio art. After working in a lab at Northwestern and publishing my first paper, I realized science is often “preaching to the choir.” My articles will never be circulated amongst the nonscientific community, and even within the community, they will only reach a niche audience. Incorporating scientific illustration and making science accessible to a spectrum of people is crucial to communicating science.
